I'm taking some applications from people to help me develop an area of Pink Ink Studios for beginner professional photographers to learn and grow and wanting to go into business with their portrait services. This will end up being a paid subscription program, but I'm looking for three beginners and preferably two professionals that have been in business for over two years to provide insight. This will be a private development project between me and these people to determine the needs and validity of this possible program. These members will have free lifetime access for their time and contributions.
To apply please carefully consider the amount of time you can contribute. We're looking for people that can monitor the questions asked during this test and research period on a consistent basis. Beginners should have a sincere desire to start their business and have already begun their portfolio building process. Experienced applicants should have been in business for at least two years and be willing to share, openly their ideas regarding business development and legalities, marketing concepts and other administrative functions of owning and operating a professional portrait business.
Please email me at holly@pinkinkstudios.com with your credentials and why you would be a good candidate for this research program with me. Please apply by November 20th.
Saw it last night with my aunt and uncle. LOVED IT!
I keep wanting to play the soundtrack over and over again this morning.
The storyline was great - following this group of young adults through the Vietnam War era. All set to music and mostly Beatles songs. Includes cameos by Bono, Joe Cocker and Selma Hayek. Click here for the official website.
My new phrase...LMAO. I have to laugh because I love that. My girl, Meg, used it and I have now adopted it. I always have a name for someone that irritates me like especially when I'm driving and people can't go the speed limit or pay attention long enough to stay off their cell phones while driving. So, thought I'd share my new name for jerks!
I purchased this new bench on Friday for my photography. I really wanted a great vintage used chair but haven't had much luck finding one in my budget. I just don't want to spend more than $100. And, I of course, waited till the last minute to find one for our family Christmas portraits. So, when I saw this in Home Goods for $79 I knew I found something I did love. We went back later that night to buy it. It's nice because you could sit three children on there easily, or two adults holding their kids. It's got such a beautiful classy style to it. I don't have a full photo of it, but I do have my sweetie pie cousin here on it to give you some idea of it.
So, I'm sure you can see why I love it. You can't see the legs in this but they are a beautiful dark wood. LOVE! We're actually going to use these outdoors.
For those that wanted to see my pumpkins, here is a little picture of three of them. I'm not sure if you can tell but that one has little round mirrors on it. The other has glitter. There was another one that I did up with harlequin design and mirrors and then a plain black one.
Update on Merlin and the door - seems to be getting better. I think he's still a tad confused in that he thinks he still has to tell us he needs to go out. But, I am pretty much sleeping all night. I think maybe he tries to get me up sometimes and I just ignore him till he figures out he can go out by himself. His skin condition is now on his tail so we're back to the bathing regular with the medicated shampoo. Lord, this dog!
My Digital Muse will be closing after tomorrow. I can't believe it's finally here. It's going to be such a relief for me though. I cannot express how happy I am to finally not have to run two stores at one time. I hope to sometime create some designs every now and then for free though for digital scrapbookers - which I'd give away here on this blog. In fact, I have some papers I might give away in the next week that I made to make cards for Pink Ink Studios. Maybe I'll sell them cheap. Not sure yet. Anyhoo - I added a little message on my design website for people that may be in the dark about my leaving digital scrapbooking. I was surprised after sending out a message to our customer base at MDM that many did not know we were closing and that I was retiring. I just figured there had been plenty of time out there for people to be in the know. So, I am getting some nice messages from people. Very sweet.
Our weather has highs in the low 70's today and tomorrow. Meaning trick or treating will be SUPER nice for people in our area. I hope this means the color on the trees will last a tad bit longer. I have some shoots lined up for next week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good weather!
A new product up at Pink Ink that professional photographers may be interested in!
Click here to purchase this awesome information packet for your clients. P.S. - I'm working out an idea for beginner professionals looking to start a business. Just something to help them out and things they need to know or have prepared. Hopefully I can get that figured out soon!
I'm really wiped out! What fun it was and I suppose everything leading up to it really just wore me out!
I have a slideshow of the party posted over at Pink Gnome Foto if you want to go check that out on the blog.
Shooting the details is so much fun for me. It's almost making me wish I had a wedding to photograph. I think I'd love to be a detail wedding photographer! LOL think they have those?
We were so lucky that Dan was home on leave and could come too. He left today to go back to Fort Polk - awaiting to hear about Iraq. After everyone left the party me and the kids - I say kids because well, they are all 19 and I just don't feel as young these days! LOL - we headed down to Fenton to the new Creepy World haunted house (formerly Silo X for those St. Louis people). $20.00 and about a 30 minute wait in line. It was a pretty good attraction. Not as scary as I would normally expect because we had these three girls in front of us that ruined it for everyone. We're talking over the top screaming and running. In fact, so much that they ran back into us so many times. So, of course the workers go after them. Not much to scare us except for the occasional pop up person. My brother on the other hand - HILARIOUS! He is my true relative and gets scared too. So funny! I think it was probably about an hour long haunted house. Three different attractions within it. Click here to go to their site. So, home after about 2 a.m. and I have been lazy and relaxed all day.
Now, I'm off to chill for the rest of the night. I have to take Merlin in for a thyroid checkup tomorrow and back at it with TONS of work to catch up on from being off the past few days.
Another adorable picture of my baby wanting Mufassa to take his picture.
So I probably won't be on the computer too much since I have a ton to do today and tomorrow for our Halloween gathering. If I promised you something I promise to follow through BY TONIGHT! Of course, my "tonight" may be pretty late. Just hang with me!
Merlin still thinks he has to tell us he needs to go out. He comes in the door from outside just fine. It's just convincing him that he can go out it by himself with out making us get up. Last night I barked and grunted at me. Once I got up he went right out it. This will take some time I suppose. I hope he "gets it" fast!
Ugly Betty - Ahhhh, I love that show! I caught it on iTunes this morning. I love that they upload that show so fast! I usually watch The Office and Earl on Thursdays. So, I have to catch Betty later. No, not watching Greys - SHOCKING! LOL
It's been cool and rainy here the past couple of days. Fall really has arrived. Being it's been pretty dry we're not getting as many colors in the trees as normal. Sad. It's bad enough that they last less than a week here anyway in St. Louis. Now, we just don't have much to work with. Oh well.
MAC has it's new operating system debuting tonight - but I won't upgrade for a while. I hate bugs.
I can't think of much else to say - man, I'm such a boring person on the blog these days!
Getting caught up - such a beautiful thing!
I am needing a nap today - Merlin had me up quite a bit and this morning at 5ish I couldn't go back to sleep. HOWEVER, Mr. FEDEX dropped something off at my door. Merlin's new doggy door for the sliding door! YAY! It's up temporarily while we make sure he is going to use it. A little confused because he thinks he still has to let us know he wants out. Will be better tonight, I'm sure, because I will just ignore him and see if he figures it out there he doesn't need me to let him out. SLEEP! I will be so very happy!
Have worked a little more on Pink Gnome Foto and tweaking a few things over there. Working on a few more marketing ideas and getting those taken care of. I think it's starting to come together finally.
Needing to go to Lowe's today to pick up some more purple twinkle lights, an extension cord and some spotlights to put in the flower beds where our tombstones and stuff are so it lights up nicely when the fogger blows into them. Yes, we have a fog machine for it.
Just a little reminder that My Digital Muse does close next week - so use up any gift certificates you have as they will not be refunded after we close! My stuff is going going gone forever!
You can also check out my new things up at Pink Ink Studios - lot's of Christmas card templates and some business/marketing templates for sale.
With not a TON to say, just blog fun:
So good to hear that people still want to read what I have to say! So nice! Thanks for the well wishes on feeling better. Sometimes if I work too hard and am too stressed I just can't keep up! It is my own fault. So, I manage to deal with it.
Okay, last night, I purchased my costume. I have no idea what I really am - I mean, it's sort of my own concoction. I actually have always wanted to wear a pink wig and those fake eyelashes. So, I found those first. Hmmm, what to wear with them? After the third store, I opted for a pink goth type girl! LOL I know, weird. I grabbed a cool hooded cape - something my fatness could fit inside okay. I got some fangs, some dark makeup and well, that's me! Love love love the wig! I am dying to get all dolled up and take a picture! I have been painting the pumpkins too. I didn't realize how hard it would be to cover these things with white paint. So, I'm layering it on as they dry. As soon as I have it all done and set up, I will take a photo to show you. It's pretty cool!
I had to run Mufassa up to the vet's office today. His chin was all raw and bleeding from his scratching at it. Appears he has some allergy and well, now we're giving him some medicine and changing his bowls from the plastic one to stainless steel. I had to take him up there by myself without a pet carrier. LOL He cried like a baby the entire time but was unexpectedly calm. Merlin couldn't figure out why I was leaving the house with the cat. He had to check him all out once we got home.
I meant to ask after last week's The Office - did you see the part where they were watching the DVD screensaver - and how it goes into the corners of the screen? LMAO, me and my old roommate used to do this very thing in our apartment. He and I would laugh so hard and it's just such a stupid thing to do. Why we got a kick out of it, I will never know. But, I thought it was soooo funny that they touched on this on the show and was laughing my butt off!
Here, go laugh at it!
Is this thing on? My, I haven't blogged in five days. That's what being sick and extremely busy will do to ya!
I really haven't had a ton of things to say lately other than life really has been hectic. I really felt lousy for a few days and am still fighting the allergy thing. We've spent most of the weekend doing serious cleaning of the house which stirred up a ton of dust and things that got to me. I always hear that St. Louis is one of the worst places to live with allergies and sinus problems. I never had them when I lived off the coast in the south. Maybe that's a sign?
We still need to finish decorating for Halloween - we have rain all week, so it will be interesting getting out there to do all that. At least I have to finish painting some pumpkins and get the porch decorated. Seems like I just waited to long and then with being sick it really threw me off. I have to find a costume too. Hopefully, I can go search for that tonight. I have NO clue what to be either! I do want a pink wig and crazy fun eyelashes...thoughts?
Watched Georgia Rules this weekend on demand. I really liked it. As much as an ass as Lindsay Lohan is, I have to admit that she was pretty good in this movie. I do recommend it!
Friday, I had a session with a newborn and family. I was so busy this weekend that I am just now starting to go through them. I definitely am struggling with the business end of things in the photography world. Trying to develop a flow that works best for me like how many sessions to do per week, what I can really handle regarding my time for proofing, which forms and documents work best. I'm testing the waters a lot and still just want to really get a good grasp on it all. One day, I will be so busy that I will be able to afford an assistant!
So, thought I'd just better get on here to say hello. I think with all the changes of me retiring from digital scrapbooking and trying to break away from that stuff over the next week (it's almost over!) that it's just a little chaotic. I have no clue if I'll even have many followers on the blog after all is said and done. Heck, I may not blog as often and not even sure if there is much interest in people hearing from me, but I won't give up completely. I promise!
